Gender Equality in the Workplace – Policy Review And Recommendations From Pakistan’s Business Sector

Gender Equality in the Workplace is a review of policies and business actions from 38 for-profit enterprises across Pakistan on building equal-opportunity workplaces for women. Since 2021, the Centre of Excellence in Responsible Business (CERB), the first outreach initiative of the Pakistan Business Council (PBC), has partnered with the International Finance Corporation (IFC) in creating the Gender Diversity and Disclosure Scorecard to promote business disclosures in the five key areas of leadership and accountability, workforce representation, the gender pay gap, optimal workplace culture, and coaching and mentoring for female employees.
This report is a collation of the best practices submitted through the Scorecard by the participating organizations, as well as recommendations based on global trends and research on diversity, equity and inclusion for women. Various industries have been covered, particularly textile, banking, power & energy, chemicals, telecommunications, and fast-moving consumer goods. Companies with high levels of disclosure were recognized as “Employers of Choice” at an annual awards ceremony jointly-hosted by the PBC and IFC.
