Under the sponsorship of EBM for SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-Being), CERB produced a workshop on employee well-being in the workplace in collaboration with the British Asian Trust. The event took place at the Marriott Hotel in Karachi, on the 15th of December, 2021, and marks the first collaboration with EBM under the SDG Leadership Programme.

The workshop invited mental health service providers, Taskeen and Sehat Kahani, to offer techniques and strategies for HR executives in alleviating stress and promoting a positive work environment. It also included a discussion on employee wellbeing trends around the world by Joanne Martin, who has over 25 years’ experience in the mental health field in clinical practice and as a mental health trainer.

The short, introductory workshop was an important exploration in examining the common causes behind chronic stress, recognizing signs of burnout and anxiety, and developing the role of corporate leadership in ensuring well-being at work. The sessions by each panelist were interactive, with engaging discourse and q/a sessions, providing a comfortable and open platform for the participants.

The participants belonged to multiple sectors of the Pakistan business community, including textile, manufacturing, chemical, insurance, banking, telecom, as well as consulting. They received certificates for their attendance, acknowledging the preliminary knowledge and skills acquired in fostering a mentally well-balanced work environment.

Zahid Iqbal, Director of Commercial and HR at EBM, delivered a keynote speech on EBM’s leadership in mental well-being in the workplace, capturing their policies and strategies in this domain, and their commitment to take further strides. It falls under the goals outlined by the UN SDGs, in particular target 3.4 on promoting psychological welfare for all.

CERB is proud and grateful for the instruction and guidance delivered in this workshop in collaboration with mental health champions and progressive management. A longer version of this workshop will be delivered in February 2022, over a course of two days. If you are interested in attending, please contact our Programme Manager for Diversity & Inclusion, Rajaa Bokhari, for questions on registration and pricing.
